Motivation
- Sponsorship opportunities & benefits
- Photo galleries
- Active sponsorship logos (and links to their websites)
- Ability to access application or registration materials for event (upload or link to documents?)
- All the above in some kind of graphically pleasing format
The new event type should create a more comprehensive sense of the event as an exciting, multifacited experience rather than simply a date on a calendar.
Proposal
The current event contented type does allow for logo association of sponsors with links to websites but should be expanded to include detailing sponsorship benefits.
It should be possible to add potentially multiple photo galleries to an event in an ad-hock manner as photos become available.
If registration is required for an event, a registration sheet should be available that stores visitor registrations and makes the list available to Chamber staff in some sort of report format.
A new event display template should be created that organizes all of the informaiton related to the event in a pleasing manner. The new display template should appear more as a section of the site rather than simply a calendar event display. It should encourage further exploration of the media and information regarding the event itself.
Implementation
A new content type will be developed called "Major Event" (or something, TBD). The Major Event will be a folderish event that can contain other content types including:
- Photo Galleries
- Registration Sheets
This list may be expanded, e.g. adding links or sub-pages may useful in the future.
The existing sponsorship association of events will be expanded to include a description of sponsorship benefits displayed to potential sponsors.
Registration Sheets will be a new content type that allows site visitors to register for events by filling out form fields and submitting them to the website. The Registration Sheet will provide a report to Chamber staff detailing who has registered. Chamber staff will be able to design the registration form on a per event basis through the administrative interface of the website.
A new Major Event display template will organize the event information, photo galleries, registration requirements and other event content into a pleasing presentation.
Deliverables
A new Major Event content type.
A Registration Sheet content type.
A new Major Event public interface (the pleasent display)
