The four-session program runs on September 11\, 12\, 19 and 20 from 4-7PM each evening at The Gem Theater in Bethel. Through interactive activities and discussions with local panelists\, community members\, volunteers\, and nonprofit staff and board members receive leadership skills and comprehensive nonprofit board training. In addition to these skills\, participants come away from the program with active connections to local nonprofit organizations and a network of colleagues to work with and call on in the future.\n\n"I found the series of evenings that BANC put together to be inspiring\, educational\, and enlightening when it comes to how we can all contribute to the betterment of the area\," said Brian Simpson\, program participant from 2016. "Even if you don't jump right in and sit on a board\, I feel it's important to know what is going on in the community in which you live and who is involved."\n\nThe thirty member organizations of BANC are involved in supporting the greater Bethel community through projects and programs spanning economic development\, outdoor recreation\, health\, education\, social services\, conservation\, community service\, arts\, culture\, and history. These nonprofits welcome the community to get involved in their programs as volunteers\, committee members\, and board members.\n\n"I knew being asked to be on a board was an honor\, but I didn't fully understand the full weight of the responsibility. The program helped me understand the scope of challenges that face non-profits in our community\, but more importantly\, it helped me see the great opportunities for us ahead." Wade Kavanaugh\, participant from 2016.\n\nThe program is open to the public and the fee is $100. BANC is providing scholarships to anyone who is committed to participating in the program\, but for whom cost is a barrier.
