White Mountain National Forest
The White Mountain National Forest covers nearly 800,000 acres in both Maine and New Hampshire.
It is within a day's drive for millions of people. Visitors to the White Mountains can experience a wide variety of activities including hiking, camping, wildlife viewing, driving tours, skiing, and snowshoeing. There are five public CAMPGROUNDS in the National Forest that offer a forest setting and limited services. For reservations in those campgrounds, call at least five days in advance of your planned arrival to 877-444-6777.
