You are invited to join other business and community leaders to learn about ongoing efforts and upcoming opportunities to improve high speed internet connectivity in the Maine West region of the Oxford Hills, Bethel and Rumford areas.
 
The Covid-19 shutdown has made it more apparent than ever how critical high speed, reliable internet access is to our ability educate our children, deliver quality health services, support local businesses, and simply make our communities attractive and viable places to live, work, and visit.
 
We hope you’ll join local and statewide leaders on June 16 to learn about strategies and opportunities to improve high speed internet access in your community.

  • Maine West Broadband Action Updates – How are local communities expanding broadband infrastructure and digital inclusion in the Maine West region: rural infrastructure, downtown hotspots, public internet access, remote student learning
 
  • Broadband Investment Bond Referendum, July 14 – Why is state support for high speed internet service important and how can you support the referendum campaign: Andrew Butcher, Maine Broadband Coalition; Nick Battista, Island Institute; Peggy Schaffer, ConnectMaine Authority
 
  • Community Readiness & Next Steps for the Maine West Region – How can you help expand internet access and adoption – technical assistance for community broadband committees: Mia Purcell, Community Concepts Finance Corporation; Mike Wilson, Northern Forest Center
 
Who: This event is organized by the Maine West initiative with leadership by Community Concepts Finance Corporation and the Northern Forest Center, and in partnership with the Maine Broadband Coalition, Island Institute, and the ConnectMaine Authority.
