    Event Description:
    The Mount Washington Avalanche Center is the is the oldest backcountry forecasting program in the country and the only American avalanche center east of the Rockies. Helon Hoffer’s duties include avalanche forecasting and leading Search and Rescue efforts in the Cutler River drainage on the east side of Mount Washington beginning on December 1 each year through the end of winter avalanche season. He also promotes mountain safety and snow science. Winter climbers and skiers on Mount Washington rely on the vital service provided by Helon and his fellow snow rangers to insure their safety on Mount Washington's winter slopes.
