MMGM's 3rd Annual Mineralogical Heritage Award
We at the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum (MMGM) are pleased to announce that the 2018 Heritage Awardees are Mary Groves and Irving "Dudy" Groves (1919 - 2005) of Poland Mining Camps. Mary is well known for her hospitality in her role as hostess at the Poland Mining Camps in Poland, ME. Dudy spent over forty years in the mountains of Maine mining at some of the most historical mines including Mt. Apatite and Mt. Mica.
Poland Mining Camps’ goal is to create a family of mineral collectors and enthusiasts from all walks of life, with every level of experience & expertise, international in scope, and eager to enjoy this exclusive camp community and collecting opportunities.
4:30-6:45 pm: Cash bar and meet & greet followed by a buffet dinner.
7:00-8:00 pm: Don Dallaire, "Heritage Award Winners Mary & Dudy Groves and Their Impact on Maine Minerals"
MMGM Mineralogical Heritage Awards celebrate the sciences and arts integral to its mission: to communicate the significance of minerals in our lives, our planet and beyond.
The Annual MMGM Mineralogical Heritage Awards commence in May 2018 on Friday May 11 at the Grand Summit Hotel in Newry, Maine and are held in conjunction with the New England Mineral Conference.
