Science on Screen: International Sports Lawyer, Paul Greene, & the film "Icarus"
Please join us at The Gem for our outdoor Science on Screen event on Saturday, September 26th at 6:30pm. We will have a presentation, given remotely, by Paul Greene at 6:30pm, followed by the film Icarus at 7pm.
6:30pm: Paul Greene, “The Real World of Anti-Doping” told from an international sports lawyer’s point of view.
Paul Greene is a Portland-based international sports lawyer who has handled some of the world’s highest profile anti-doping matters over the past decade. Paul was involved in the appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland that involved the subject matter at the heart of Icarus, the award winning film about Russia and doping. His talk will detail the real world of anti-doping.
7:00pm: Icarus
Film Synopsis: When filmmaker Bryan Fogel sets out to uncover the truth about doping in sports, a chance meeting with a Russian scientist transforms his story from a personal experiment into a geopolitical thriller. Dirty urine, unexplained death and Olympic gold are all part of the exposure of the biggest scandal in sports history.
