Shaping Your Woods for Wildlife
Learn why Western Maine is of global importance to fish and wildlife and how family woodland owners can help add habitat using forestry as a tool. This introductory webinar will provide some insights to woodland-owners who cut firewood or are considering harvesting and want to enhance wildlife habitat and increase the climate value of their woods at the same time.
Christine Parrish of the New England Forestry Foundation will provide a birds-eye view of wildlife habitat and why Western Maine is special and examples of how NEFF is working with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA) to use precision forestry as a tool to benefit wildlife in non-commercial woodlands – including at the Mahoosuc Land Trust McCoy-Chapman forest. A question and answer session will follow and reference materials will be available to attendees.
