    Event Description:
Forester and environmental consultant David Govatski, who worked for the U.S. Forest Service for more than thirty years, will explore the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and their work in the White Mountain region of New Hampshire and Maine in this illustrated talk.

When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt took office during the Great Depression, one out of four Americans was out of work and financial collapse was common. Roosevelt immediately established a variety of programs including the CCC—one of the most successful federal government programs in our history—to put people back to work and improve our natural resources, parks, and forests.
