Ullr Fest
A celebration of "Ullr," the Norse god of skiing, snow, ice and archery. Celebratory games throughout the day along with food, drink and a bonfire at night.
ULLR FEST / TELE FEST
SATURDAY FEB 3
ULLR is the ancient Norse god of skiing, snowshoeing, archery and snow. This year we have decided to build a larger set of events and festivities around Tele Fest to truly celebrate the Scandinavian heritage of the area.
We will have t-shirts, helmets and great prizes including commemorative vessels. Family-friendly as always!
Here are a few of the events we have planned:
Tele Fest $10.00 Includes Demos, Clinics, Race, Beer Ticket
9:00- 2:00 Telemark Demos: Whether you are looking to try out the latest in tele gear or just want to try telemark skiing, you can try gear for the day for $10, provided by Telemark Down and New England Telemark
Telemark Instruction: Learn to telemark from a pro! Clinics will go out both in the morning and afternoon!
12:00 Noon Telemark Races: For all ages and abilities. You do NOT need to be on tele skis to participate. Course will be modified GS with a short uphill/skate section at the end. Children and Adult Divisions, Tele and Alpine Divisions. Race fee included in Tele Fest fee but you must register for the race and pick up a bib in the lodge in order to race.
2:30 “Nerf” Archery on Skis: Oldskool Nordic ski-by shooting. Very short GS course with four targets along the way. No poles, just a bow and four arrows.
3:45 Scandinavian Skivvy Snowshoe Loop: According to Heather Harrington, this is traditionally done bottomless. However, as a family resort, we have adapted. Short course race on snowshoes. Children and Adult Divisions. We define skivvies as a mid-thigh or shorter garment, not leggings or tights. Prizes for “best undressed” and “most creative.” We will also have a kids “Snowshoe Dash”
4:00 Apres Music with “Crime Scene”
4:15 Throwing Games (on skis or snowshoes) Viking throwing contests to include axes, spears and age-appropriate objects for kids. Cool prizes!
6:00 Viking Hat Building Contest: Tin-foil construction project during a break in the Crime Scene action. Judging to follow. More cool prizes!
8:00 (or TBD) Bonfire and ShotSki Activities: Just what it sounds like. This activity will take place at the appropriate time in front of the lodge. Bring items to burn as a sacrifice to ULLR (Eagles jerseys, old skis, whatever) so that he will bring us more snow! We will be burning the old blue Adirondack chairs, the Christmas tree, and other items of interest. Old groomer is off limits.
