Blueberry season is upon us, which means that it's time for the Mahoosuc Land Trust's annual Whitecap Gourmet hike. Hikers are invited to gather at 9 a.m.on Saturday, August 4th for this event, always a favorite. This is a moderate hike of 4.6 miles round-trip, with 360 panoramic views and berries galore.
The gourmet element of the hike depends on participants. At the summit, hikers will savor picnic items they have all brought to share, the definition of gourmet being as safe or wild as your imagination. In addition to bringing a picnic item, hikers are asked to wear sturdy, sensible hiking shoes and come prepared with water and sun and insect protection.
To reach the trailhead, which is in Andover, drive north on Route 5 from Route 2 for 3 miles. Turn right to cross the bridge, then left on East Andover Road. The parking lot is 200 yards on the left.
