• Hearing Instrument Specialist - Audiology

    • Position Summary
      • Fit hearing amplification on systems to indivdiuals.  Test auditory system of hearing impaired indivdiuals, using test equipment and applying standardized evaluation on procedures.  Interpret and evaluate auditory test results and confer with hearing-impaired indivdiuals to demonstrate, select, fit, adapt, and modify hearing amplification systems.  May replace defective parts or make repairs to hearing amplification sytems.

      • Education, Required Licenses/Certifications:
        • Have earned Board Certification by the National Board for Cerfitication in Hearing Instrument Sciences
        • A training course approved by the National Institute of Hearing Instrument Studies (NIHIS), with home study acceptable; or a training program supervised by a licensed audiologist or registered hearing aid dealer with a minimum of two year's experience
        • Pass online examination from the International Institute for Hearing Instrument Studies and pass New Hampshire Board Certification-Hearing Instrument Specialist written and practical examinations within 6 months or completion of training courses 

      • Work Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
        • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required. 
        • Congenial, pleasant, and friendly disposition is required, as this position involves continuous contact with the public, frequently when patients do not feel well or are upset. 
        • Ability to interact with physicians and other healthcare practitioners in a helpful, courteous manner is an asset. 
        • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment is preferred. 
        • Familiarity with computer applications required. 
        • Must have technical aptitude and a willingness to learn software applications used at AVH.
