Summer Fun Abounds in the Western Maine Mountains
Sunday River Resort announces 2019 summer activities and events.
NEWRY, MAINE (June 10, 2019)—Sunday River Resort has long been known for eight peaks of skiing and snowboarding, but summer is just as fun in the mountains of Western Maine. In addition to activities like the Mountain Park and the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools, Sunday River recently took over management of the Sunday River Golf Club, and has a full calendar of events planned from now through October.
New this summer, Sunday River will be managing all golf course operations. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the Sunday River Golf Club offers an 18-hole championship course with dramatic elevation changes, stunning mountain views, a log-built clubhouse, and a mountainside practice facility.

Mountain Park and Passes
Based out of the resort’s South Ridge Lodge, Sunday River’s Mountain Park offers an 18-hole alpine disc golf course, hiking, twin zips, scenic chairlift rides, a bungee trampoline, and climbing wall.
Starting on Thursday, June 27, guests can take advantage of Adventure Passes, which are day passes available to purchase all summer long with unlimited use of the resort’s scenic chairlift, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, and twin ziplines,for $25 (ages 13+) and $22 (ages 6-12).
Open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday through September 1, then 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, September 7 through October 13, 2019, Sunday River’s Mountain Park is an adventure playground for all ages.
L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools
For a sixth consecutive summer, Sunday River will partner with L.L.Bean to bring their famed Outdoor Discovery Schools to the resort.
Based out of the Grand Summit Hotel and Jordan Hotel, L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools will offer $25 Discovery courses in archery, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding, as well as a $59 three-hour kayak tour, at select times Monday through Friday from June 3 through August 15, 2019. With a little planning, resort guests can time their trip to Sunday River to coincide with one of the many weekend events planned.
Events returning to Sunday River include the annual River Rock Festival July 5-6; the New England Forest Rally July 19-20; Tough Mountain Challenge on July 27; Mini Mountain Challenge on July 28; Maine Brew Fest from September 13-15; the North American Wife Carrying Championship on October 12, and New England Cornhole Championship on October 13.
