There are five public CAMPGROUNDS in the National Forest that offer a forest setting and limited services:
- Crocker Pond (Albany Twp, just south of Bethel)
And on Route 113, west and south of Bethel:
- Cold River
- Wild River
The White Mountain National Forest covers nearly 800,000 acres in both Maine and New Hampshire. It is within a day's drive for millions of people. Visitors to the White Mountains can experience a wide variety of activities including hiking, camping, wildlife viewing, driving tours, skiing, and snowshoeing. Enjoy our visitors' center on Rt. 16, just 3 miles south of Gorham, NH and 5 miles north of the Mt. Washington Auto Road.
For reservations at Basin, Cold River, and Hastings, reserve online at www.recreation.gov or call at least four days in advance of your planned arrival to 877-444-6777. (Crocker Pond and Wild River are first-come, first served.)
