Fishing Maps & Resources
Fishing in the Androscoggin River is becoming legendary. Rainbow and brook trout are prevalent upstream of Bethel in the spring and into early summer. Downstream of Bethel, and as waters warm, bass are the big catch.
Many other smaller feeder streams in the Androscoggin watershed, such as the Pleasant River, Sunday River, and Wild River, are also home to wild brook trout. Local ponds and lakes offer other fishing opportunities.
If you are interested in getting a non-resident fishing license in person, the towns of Newry and Greenwood offer this service. The Town of Bethel only offers Maine resident fishing licenses. Otherwise, the MDIFW website provides this service.
